Dr. William B. Christensen, DC, R.T.P.
Dr. William Christensen, a native of St. George, has returned home to practice in the beautiful area of Utah’s Dixie.
Dr. Christensen is a chiropractic physician who specializes in practicing evidenced-based medicine and relieving his patients’ head, neck, and low back pain as quickly as possible. He utilizes many therapies including joint mobilization, ultrasound, interferential therapy, hot/cold therapy, rehab exercises, decompression, stretching, and patient education as conservative options for relieving pain and addressing the root of the problem.
He has received post-graduate chiropractic training in treating whiplash injuries and neck pain from the prestigious Spine Research Institute of San Diego. This allows him to provide the most up-to-date care for those injured in car accidents.
Dr. Christensen has also received training on a new and advanced treatment called Graston Therapy. The Graston Technique is a relatively new form of soft tissue mobilization used by many medical doctors, physical therapist and chiropractors specializing in sports medicine. The technique uses specifically designed stainless steel instruments to help the practitioner identify and break down adhesions and scar tissue surrounding muscles. It provides excellent results from many musculoskeletal problems ranging from low back pain to plantar fasciitis.
Dr. Christensen is also a registered trigenics practitioner (R.T.P) Trigenics neuromuscular re-education therapy is a neuromuscular treatment that resets the way the brain communicates with muscles resulting in decreased pain and increased strength and movement. It works through neurological exercise reflexes, muscle sensory stimulation, and breathing relaxation exercises. This chiropractic therapy is an excellent option for helping muscle and joint problems in certain situations where actual adjustments may be contraindicated.
As a means to provide other options for pain management, Dr. Christensen is also certified in Acupuncture. Acupuncture has excellent research and results for managing chronic musculoskeletal pain, increasing blood flow and healing, and treating painful nerve problems. His typical acupuncture patients are those who have experienced low back or neck pain for many years and have been unable to find relief with other forms of traditional medicine. Acupuncture provides another option for managing chronic pain that has no side effects from the treatment which sometimes occurs with medicinal pain management therapies.
